In times of turbulence and confusion in the marketplace, brokers don't need to have all of the answers; they just need to know more than their competition. And 2020 is definitely a time of turbulence and confusion...

We'll start with a quick look at all of the big changes (and the impact of those changes) over the past 12 months, including some of the decisions made during the COVID-19 health emergency. We'll also discuss the upcoming election, the positions of President Trump and Vice President Biden, and the pending Supreme Court case.
It's getting harder and harder to help clients who purchase coverage in the individual market, but believe it or not there are still some innovative solutions you can recommend, including short-term health plans.
Due to COVID-19, small businesses are struggling right now, and that's unlikely to change anytime soon. In the coming months, brokers will need to get creative to help their clients. The good news is that there are still some great solutions for small employers, and brokers who are able to deliver those solutions will be rewarded with plenty of business in the months ahead.
For large employers, the mandate, employer reporting, and compliance remain big topics, though there have been some rule changes due to the coronavirus. We'll give an update on all three of those topics and discuss some strategies you can recommend to large employers.
This class wouldn't be complete without a discussion of the future of the ACA, so we'll talk about four possible scenarios: 1) Trump wins and the Court finds the law unconstitutional; 2) Trump wins but the Court upholds the ACA; 3) Biden wins but the Court finds the law unconstitutional; 4) Biden wins and the Court upholds the ACA.
A lot of agents think that way, and that's exactly why this is the perfect time for you to learn as much as you can! As the hiker story illustrates, you don't have to have all of the answers, but you do need to know more than your competitors. This class will give you the latest info about the repeal and replace efforts, tell you what you should tell your clients, and help you to capitalize on the opportunities as they present themselves.
Eric Johnson is the lone presenter for the Health Reform Boot Camp. Hopefully that's a good thing... In preparing the presentation, he will consult with industry experts from across the country and borrow the best information from each. He calls it "R&D" -- Robbing and Duplicating.
This course is designed with brokers in mind. While much of the content will also be applicable to employers, we will spend some time talking about the opportunities for insurance agents to grow their business. It might be a better idea to schedule a separate and shorter webinar for your employer clients - just contact Eric if you're interested in that option.
Please note that ComedyCE.com is not set up as an HRCI provider. The course is filed for CE credit for insurance agents in the state of Texas but not for HR managers or for agents outside of Texas.

Hi, I'm Eric, the founder of ComedyCE.com and your instructor for the Health Reform Boot Camp. I've worked in the health insurance industry for more than 20 years and have been teaching continuing education classes since 2008. ComedyCE.com was founded just 6 days before the Affordable Care Act was signed into law.
During my insurance career, I've worked for insurance carriers, general agencies, and third party administrators. I'm also an active member of the National Association of Health Underwriters (and hope you are too).
This will be the seventh time in the past eight years I've put together a Health Reform Boot Camp. I know 4 hours sounds like a long class, but I promise there's plenty of material to cover and the time will go by fast. I hope you enjoy the class.
